Do Condo Association Meetings Have To Be Publicized And Open To Residents?

Condo associations have to be publicized and open. The question is as to whether residents or members are entitled to attend. The members, that is the people who own the condominium units, have an absolute right to attend. Associations may vary as to whether who people who live there, for example renters, have a right or not to attend.

The only exception on a condominium association’s requirement for open meetings, is when the association, with at least 48 hours advance notice, publicizes that they’re going to have a closed meeting with their lawyers. In that instance, the membership knows the meeting is going to happen, doesn’t know what’s going to be discussed, and it cannot attend.
